Rihanna’s Cake; MTV news takes a stab at who will feature

Rihanna’s Cake will blow your mind
Rihhanna
Rihanna is doing a full-length version of the track “Birthday Cake” off Talk That Talk. The original version is 78-seconds long, but in one week, we’ll get to hear a full version of the song and according to one of the track’s co-producers, the featured guest on this remix will blow your mind. Who’s one artist that would shock the world? MTV News guessed Chris Brown and we’d have to agree. Having him on a Rihanna track, would be pretty controversial.

Lil Wynee engaged?

As I reported earlier, Weezy made some interesting tweets that alluded to a proposal toward his girlfriend of about a year, Dhea. However, I was skeptical to say it was official, because you just NEVER know with Lil Wayne! Turns out, I was right! check out what hollywoodlife reported

2 days ago Lil Wayne popped the question to his girlfriend and reported mom of his unborn baby and now we know how he did it!

Even though Lil Wayne claims he’s not actually engaged on Twitter, we think he’s pulling a fast one on us, especially after hearing the latest details about his date last night with his girlfriend, Dhea.
Lil Wayne took his girlfriend to the swanky restaurant, Barton G, in Miami and used the help of the waitstaff to make the night special, by having them put a ring with a giant yellow rock on it in her dessert, reports TMZ.
Apparently, the ring was brought out in a $43 sundae with 12 scoops of homemade ice cream, sparklers and toppings.
“She said, ‘yes!’” Weezy yelled.

Do YOU think he’s engaged?

Ecstatic Taiwanese claim Jeremy Lin as their own

Jeremy Lin
Lin was born and raised in the United States, and his maternal grandmother comes from China, but his parents spent their formative years in Taiwan, and that's enough for people here to see him as a true-blue son of the island.

With only a handful of foreign embassies, and a political leadership forced into international invisibility, it's not surprising that the 23 million people of Taiwan feel their island home doesn't always get the respect it deserves.
Which is why they're now embracing the emerging New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin as one of their own, reveling in his basketball exploits with a passion rare for a place better known for its flat screen TVs and computer chips.

The Harvard graduate's remarkably rapid rise from NBA obscurity to stardom appeals to the Taiwanese as embodying the virtues they say propelled their island from agricultural backwater to high-tech powerhouse: hard work, devotion to family, and modesty.
"Jeremy Lin may not consider himself a Taiwanese, and his success has had nothing to do with Taiwan, but Taiwanese regard him as one of their own," said political scientist Liu Bi-rong of Taipei's Soochow University. "Now he has taken the world by storm, and they are proud and enthralled by what he has done."
Across the 100-mile- (160-kilometer-) wide Taiwan Strait, China too is claiming Lin as a native son, pointing to his grandmother's roots in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang as proof of his Chinese-ness.
He is being touted as the next big Chinese sports star after Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, whose retirement last year has tested the NBA's deep-seated popularity on the mainland.
China's pride of ownership is all too familiar to most Taiwanese, who are constantly bombarded by Beijing's assertions that they live in a political never-never land, lacking all the elementary accouterments of statehood.
The two sides split amid civil war in 1949, and China claims the democratic island as its own, to be brought back into the fold by persuasion if possible, by force if necessary.
Watching Lin's latest performance against the Sacramento Kings at a Taipei sports bar Thursday morning, 22-year-old saleswoman Tsai Shu-fan dismissed China's Lin identification with a barely disguised sneer.

"He is a native of Changhua, where his parents came from," she said. "He is not a Chinese."
Adjusting to China's domineering posture has become something of a cottage industry on Taiwan, particularly since it lost its seat in the United Nations to Beijing in 1971, and virtually all of its diplomatic allies - including the United States - abandoned it for China 30 or 40 years ago.
Its political leaders now have nowhere to travel on official international visits, except to countries like Paraguay and Burkina Faso, two of the 23 nations around the world that still recognize it.
That kind of isolation has helped engender outsized reactions when local people make it big on the world stage. Director Ang Lee became a favorite son for the wall-to-wall acclaim he received when "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Brokeback Mountain" hit the silver screen. Former New York Yankees and current Washington Nationals pitcher Chien-ming Wang was commonly referred to on local television broadcasts as "Taiwan's Glory," and Yani Tseng, the No. 1 golfer on the LPGA tour for the past year has given her sport a huge boost on the island.
But only a month into helping transform the New York Knicks from soporific losers into one of the most scintillating teams in the NBA, Lin looks set to leave the other Taiwanese icons trailing in the dust.
His Knicks games are broadcast not only on sports stations, but also on news channels, which devote talk shows to his exploits once the games are over.
Newspapers have totally forgotten about last month's presidential elections, apparently mindful that filling their pages with Linsanity is a far better bet for attracting readers.
And a Taiwanese English tutoring school is airing TV ads to teach viewers newly coined words like "Lincredible" and "Linternational," noting Lin's cascading global impact.

None of that surprises Tsai, the young saleswoman, who came to the sports bar on Thursday wearing a dark blue hat emblazoned with the Chinese character for her new hero's name.
"Lin is the young Michael Jordan, and he has Taiwanese blood," she said. "I am so proud of him."

Golf - the rich mans hobby?

Golf was invented in 15th-century Scotland, where some of the world’s oldest golf courses are located. It is a relatively simple game that sees you using a club to hit a ball into a hole, yet it is also complex, mainly thanks to the huge size of the courses compared to the tiny balls and holes.

Golf is played with golf clubs, which come in three types: wood, iron and putters. Clubs can be expensive, but a good set of clubs will help your game, as there are differences between each one that affect how far the ball goes. A one wood (a driver) will hit the ball very much further than an eight wood, for example.

There are many golf tournaments in the world today, with the two most important being the professional tournaments, the Masters and the PGA Championship. Many countries also hold open tournaments that amateurs can also enter, such as the US Open and the British Open.

Probably the most famous golfer in the world today is Tiger Woods, who was won ten major golf tournaments to date, making him one of the best golfers ever. Most people think that Jack Nicklaus is the best golfer ever, as he won more tournaments than any other, but if Tiger Woods keeps playing and winning like he is for another decade or so then that could easily change.

If you want to get into golf, there are plenty of ways to learn without having to go around a full-size golf course. Many places have ‘pitch and putt’ mini-golf courses, where you can go with nothing more than a chipping club (an iron) and a putter, and play on mini-holes. Children who are not yet old enough to do this can play crazy golf, which is generally putting-only, and has fun, brightly-coloured obstacles on the course and holes which make the ball do interesting things. It’s surprising just how fun golf can be, and many kids get their start with crazy golf only to go on and play real golf as a hobby for the rest of their lives.

Singer Whitney Houston, top-selling artist in pop history found dead in a hotel room in Beverly Hills.

Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died aged 48.
The singer was found dead in a Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, where she had been staying for the past two weeks.
Tittle writes history that Singer Whitney Houston dies at 48
I remember her words "I`ve turned down a lot of arena dates because I`ve done the big-arena thing. Now, I want to do something where people can feel me and I can feel them.'' and as much as i felt her, i think she has turned down not only the big-arena thing but also us, R.I.P   Whitney Houston

Houston's publicist Kristen Foster confirmed on Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause of death was unknown.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds, reporting from Los Angeles, said that Houston had been seen at public events in good form, and had been working on post-production for the film Sparkle in recent weeks, a film which she was producing.

Kelley Carter, an entertainment journalist, said the news was all the more tragic and surprising given the star’s recent good spirits.

Carter has seen Houston shortly before her death on Saturday.

"I saw her and spoke to her and never would have thought something like this would happen just a day and a half later," Carter said. "All of her previous problems with drug were behind her."

An ambulance had been called to the hotel at around 3pm local time but she was pronounced dead when it arrived.
Golden girl

At her peak, Houston was the golden girl of the music industry.
From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists.
She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.

News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night - the Grammy Awards. It is a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to cast a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony.
Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner on Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale.

At the height of her career she had the perfect voice and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.

Houston influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.
A cautionary tale

But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use.
Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanour and bizarre public appearances.
She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.
"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the US alone.

She seemed to be born into greatness, the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.

Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modelling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.

"The time that I first saw her singing in her mother's act in a club ... it was such a stunning impact," Davis told "Good Morning America".

"To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine," he added.

Before long, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with "Whitney Houston," which sold millions and spawned hit after hit.
Saving All My Love for You brought her a first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. How Will I Know, You Give Good Love and The Greatest Love of All also became hit singles.
'Cool self-assurance'

The New York Times wrote that Houston "possesses one of her generation's most powerful gospel-trained voices, but she eschews many of the churchier mannerisms of her forerunners.
She uses ornamental gospel phrasing only sparingly, and instead of projecting an earthy, tearful vulnerability, communicates cool self-assurance and strength, building pop ballads to majestic, sustained peaks of intensity."
Whitney Houston
Won two Emmy Awards and six Grammy Awards, along with hundreds of other honours in her lifetime
Remains the only artist to have seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits
The 1985 debut album, Whitney Houston, was the best-selling debt album by a woman artist at the time of its release
First acting role was the lead in The Bodyguard (1992)
Sold more than 200 million albums worldwide
Her decision not to follow the more soulful inflections of singers like Franklin drew criticism by some who saw her as playing down her black roots to go pop and reach white audiences. The criticism would become a constant refrain through much of her career. She was even booed during the "Soul Train Awards" in 1989.

"Sometimes it gets down to that, you know?" she told Katie Couric in 1996.
"You're not black enough for them. I don't know. You're not R&B enough. You're very pop. The white audience has taken you away from them," she said.

In 1992, she became a star in the acting world with The Bodyguard.

Despite mixed reviews, the story of a singer [Houston] guarded by a former Secret Service agent [Kevin Costner] was an international success.

It also gave her perhaps her most memorable hit: a searing, stunning rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, which sat atop the charts for weeks.
It was Grammy's record of the year and best female pop vocal, and the Bodyguard soundtrack was named album of the year.

But during these career and personal highs, Houston was using drugs.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2010, she said by the time The Preacher's Wife was released, "[doing drugs] was an everyday thing. ... I would do my work, but after I did my work, for a whole year or two, it was every day. ... I wasn't happy by that point in time. I was losing myself."

In the interview, Houston blamed her rocky marriage to Brown, which included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993. They divorced in 2007.

Houston would go to rehab twice before she would declare herself drug-free to Winfrey in 2010. But in the interim, there were missed concert dates, a stop at an airport due to drugs, and public meltdowns.

She was so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumours spread she had died the next day.
Her crude behaviour and jittery appearance on Brown's reality show, Being Bobby Brown, was an example of her sad decline. Her Sawyer interview, where she declared "crack is whack," was often parodied. She dropped out of the spotlight for a few years.
Cancelled concerts

Houston staged what seemed to be a successful comeback with the 2009 album I Look To You. The album debuted on the top of the charts, and would eventually go platinum.

Things soon fell apart. A concert to promote the album on Good Morning America went awry as Houston's voice sounded ragged and off-key. She blamed an interview with Winfrey for straining her voice.

A world tour launched overseas, however, only confirmed suspicions that Houston had lost her treasured gift, as she failed to hit notes and left many fans unimpressed; some walked out.
Cancelled concert dates raised speculation that she may have been abusing drugs, but she denied those claims and said she was in great shape, blaming illness for cancellations.

SUNDERLAND 1 ARSENAL 2: THIERRY HENRY STEALS WIN FOR GUNNERS

Story Image
Arsenal's Thierry Henry scores against Sunderland

THIERRY HENRY signed off with a last-ditch winner as Arsenal came from behind to see off Sunderland.
The Frenchman, playing in the final Barclays Premier League game of his loan spell, volleyed home from Andrey Arshavin's injury-time cross to complete a comeback which had begun when Aaron Ramsey had cancelled out James McClean's 70th-minute opener.

However, the visitors were unhappy with the Irishman, who picked up a loose ball with defender Per Mertesacker writhing on the ground after catching his studs in the turf and fired past keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

It proved a difficult afternoon for the Germany international, who survived first-half appeals for a penalty from the bulk of a crowd of 40,312 in a hard-fought encounter.

Sunderland went into the game defending a five-game unbeaten run and having won nine of the 13 games they had played under manager Martin O'Neill, but knowing they faced one of the toughest tests of that sequence of fixtures.

Arsenal's 7-1 demolition of Blackburn last weekend had not exactly set the alarm bells ringing, but the Black Cats knew they would have to be at their very best to get anything out of the game.

They left the pitch at half-time all square, but firmly believing they should have been in front, not because they dominated the opening 45 minutes, but because they felt they had been done a major injustice.

The Gunners enjoyed the better of the possession, although it was their hosts who created the first real opening when McClean headed Sebastian Larsson's near-post corner over the bar with 11 minutes played.
